APPLICATION FOR CITY OF STRATFORD MUNICIPAL ELECTION WORKERS 

Thank you for your interest in working the 2026 Stratford Municipal and School Board Election. All applicants must complete this application and may be required to complete a phone or video interview.

All communications with applicants will be via email. Please ensure you provide a valid email address on this application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Voting Period: Friday, October 16, 2026 to Monday, October 26, 2026

Election Day: Monday, October 26, 2026

Potential Election Staff Duties:

  • greet electors and confirm their proof of identity
  • set up and take down of voting places at nursing homes and institutions
  • transporting election supplies
  • assist electors with electronic voting, if requested
  • process applications from eligible electors to amend the Voters’ List
  • check voter information on electronic Voters’ List

PART 1 – Please complete all sections

Are you able to attend a training session in the:
 
Do you have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle all day during the Voting Period of October 16 to 26, 2026? (persons assigned to nursing homes and institutions may travel to more than one facility on that particular day)
 
Are you able to lift and carry items that weigh 15 to 20 pounds as some positions may be required to transport election equipment and supplies?
 
Do you have previous experience working in a municipal, provincial, or federal election?
 
Do you have any management or supervisory experience?
 
Do you have experience working or volunteering in a customer service capacity?
 
Are you comfortable sitting for prolonged periods of time?
 
Are you comfortable standing for prolonged periods of time?
 
Are you comfortable working on a computer?
 
What type of activities do you use a computer for? Check all that apply:
 
Are you comfortable working on a laptop?
 
Are you comfortable searching on the internet using a browser and entering data on computer-based forms?
 
Are you comfortable with learning new software?
 
Are you comfortable talking with the public and directing them to the appropriate station?
 
Are you comfortable completing forms for revisions to the Voters List?
 
Are you comfortable working at a Nursing Home or Institution
 
Are you a candidate, third party advertiser, or the family member of a candidate/third party advertiser running for office in the 2026 Municipal Election?
 
Are you willing to be a standby worker and be available for work at the last moment? i.e., the morning of the election?
 
Are you an existing employee of the City of Stratford?
 

PART 2 – Availability

Please indicate your availability during the period of Friday, October 16 at 10:00 a.m., to Monday, October 26 at 8:00 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  1. If you are hired, you must be available all day on your assigned voting day/shift.
  2. Arrangements are being made for residents of seniors’ and nursing homes and at the Stratford General Hospital to vote at their place of residence.
  3. This election is being conducted using internet or telephone voting known as e-voting.
  4. Attendance at an election training session is mandatory for all election staff. Training will be held on Wednesday, October 14).
  5. Election staff cannot be a candidate or third party advertiser in this election or the spouse, sibling, parent, child or grandparent or grandchild of a candidate/third party advertiser.
  6. Election pay is between $30.00 to $40.00 per hour worked depending on the position being fulfilled.

Please note that this application does not guarantee placement and you may be required to complete an interview. If selected you will be contacted via the email address provided on this application. Successful applicants will be required to attend election training in early October.

I understand that falsified statements on this application shall be considered sufficient cause for dismissal. Further, should any of my information on this Application change since being submitted to the City, I will advise the Clerk’s Office immediately.

I declare that I am available to work on the shifts indicated during the Voting Period of Friday October 16 to Monday, October 26 and if this changes, I will advise the Clerk’s Office as soon as possible.

I understand that I must declare a conflict and will be unable to work the election if I am a relative of a candidate of this election or if I work on the campaign of a candidate in this election.
